When deciding which electric toothbrush model is best for you, your personal preference will be the most important factor. There are, however, a few features that many dentists recommend looking for. Our Fort St. John dentist offers some suggestions to consider.
Built-In Timer
Most dentists recommend that you brush your teeth for two minutes. Fortunately, an increasing number of electric toothbrushes come with built-in timers that go off after two minutes has passed, taking the guesswork out of brushing. You may be surprised at just how long two minutes really is if you've just been estimating up until now!
Round Rotating Brush Head
Look for models of electric toothbrushes that feature small round rotating heads that mimic the ideal circular brushing motion recommended by many dentists. Brushing your teeth thoroughly has never been easier since all you have to do is move the toothbrush over your teeth and it will make the circular motions for you!
Small Brush Head
Models of electric toothbrushes with small brush heads make it easier to reach the nooks and crannies in the back of your mouth and behind your front teeth. Brushes with small heads simply provide better maneuverability and access to tight spaces.
Other Optional Features
Other great features to look for include: timers that go off every 30 seconds, so that you know exactly how long to brush each quadrant of your mouth, and pressure sensors, (useful for people who brush too hard, or have sensitive gums).
