Our Fort St. John dentist uses porcelain veneers as an effective and non-invasive option for improving the appearance of your smile.
Restore Your Smile with Porcelain Veneers
Veneers are thin shells of tooth-coloured porcelain that are bonded to the fronts of the teeth to mask discolouration, brighten teeth and improve the appearance of your smile.
How Veneers Work
Veneers can mask stains that cannot be removed with teeth whitening, and can help make teeth look more even. They are permanently bonded to the tooth, resulting in a natural and aesthetically pleasing appearance.
Because a veneer is very thin, there is minimal risk to the natural teeth.
Veneers are also highly resistant to permanent staining from coffee, tea, or even cigarette smoking.
The Results
Upon close inspection, it will likely be possible to see very slight variations in the colour of porcelain veneers compared to the rest of the teeth.
However, this occurs even in natural teeth, and will not be noticeable to the casual observer.
You may want to consider a course of teeth whitening prior to having porcelain veneer work done, so that the colour of the veneers is matched to a whiter, brighter shade.
The Procedure
This procedure requires little or no anesthesia, making it a relatively easy way to improve the appearance of your teeth.
First, a highly accurate 3D scan is made of the tooth surface. This scan is used to create a virtual model of the tooth which is then sent to an onsite milling unit that will create a porcelain veneer.
The veneer is then cemented onto the tooth, often in one visit using CEREC technology.
