At Fort St. John Dental Clinic, we provide dental bridges to fill the gaps left by missing teeth.
Dental Bridges For Replacement of Missing Teeth
A dental bridge is a customized dental 'appliance' made up of artificial teeth (or tooth) to bridge the space between the two teeth on either end of the gap.
How Dental Bridges Work
An empty space left by missing teeth can cause the surrounding teeth to shift out of their proper positions over time.
This can result in discomfort and an increased risk of tooth decay and gum disease, which could lead to further tooth loss.
Unlike dentures, a dental bridge is never removed. It provides better chewing ability and looks much nicer than a hole or space.
The Procedure
STEP 1: The teeth on either side of the gap between missing teeth are prepared for dental crowns.
STEP 2: A highly accurate digital impression of the prepared area is then taken.
STEP 3: This impression is used to create a porcelain, tooth-coloured bridge in a laboratory.
STEP 4: Once the bridge is ready, it is cemented to the prepared surface of the teeth, effectively creating the appearance of a 'new' tooth.
